What is Umrah?
Umrah is a sacred pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed any time of the year. It involves specific rituals performed in Masjid al-Haram, unlike Hajj which has fixed dates.
🧳 1. Before You Travel
✅ Documents Required
Valid passport (6+ months)
Saudi Umrah Visa
CNIC copy
2–4 passport-size photos
COVID/vaccination certificate
Confirmed flight and hotel bookings
🧼 What to Pack
Ihram clothing (2 white sheets for men, abaya/scarf for women)
Slippers/sandals
Personal toiletries (unscented)
Prayer mat, Tasbeeh, pocket Quran
Face mask, sanitizer, wipes
Medicine, first aid, umbrella
✈️ 2. At the Airport / On Arrival
Wear Ihram from your departure point or before crossing **Miqat** (designated point).
Make Niyyah (intention)** for Umrah.
Recite Talbiyah
Arrive in Jeddah/Madinah → Transfer to Makkah
🕋 3. Steps of Performing Umrah
✅ Step 1: Ihram (Niyyah + Talbiyah)
Make intention for Umrah.
Men wear 2 pieces of white cloth; women wear modest dress (no perfume).
Pray 2 rakats of Ihram if possible.
✅ Step 2: Tawaf (Circling the Kaaba)
Enter Masjid al-Haram with right foot, say: اللّهُـمَّ افْتَـحْ لي أَبْوابَ رَحْمَتـِك
Perform 7 anti-clockwise rounds around the Kaaba.
Supplicate during each round (duas, zikr, Quran, personal prayers).
End at Maqam e Ibrahim, pray 2 rakats (if possible).
✅ Step 3: Sa’i (Walking between Safa and Marwah)
Start at Safa hill → walk to Marwah.
Complete 7 rounds (1 Safa to Marwah = 1 round).
Supplicate during the walk.
✅ Step 4: Halq or Taqsir (Hair Cutting)
Men: Shave head (Halq) or shorten hair evenly (Taqsir)
Women: Cut 1 inch of hair
> Now your Umrah is complete. Exit the state of Ihram. You can change clothes.
🌟 4. After Umrah
Offer Nawafil prayers in Haram.
Make lots of dua for yourself and others.
Visit important sites in Makkah:
Cave of Hira (Jabal al-Noor)
Mina, Muzdalifah, Arafat (if available)
Jannat ul-Mualla
🕌 5. Ziyarat in Madinah (Optional)
If you visit Madinah after Umrah:
Pray in Masjid an-Nabawi
Send Salam at Prophet ﷺ’s Rawdah
Visit Quba Mosque, Qiblatain Mosque, Uhud Mountain
🙌 Important Tips
Stay calm and patient; it can get crowded.
Drink plenty of Zamzam water
Keep a pouch for documents & slippers
Avoid selfies during worship
Stay with your group/guide
